Welcome to Bochord Bookbinding!

My name is Kari Bronaugh and I founded Bochord Bookbinding in 2018 in Owen Sound, Ontario.
As a lifelong learner, I discovered hand bookbinding in 2005 and found it taxing, thrilling, and life-changing.

My training was focused on hand bookbinding techniques predating industrialization which encouraged my fascination for historic structures that have endured through time. The joy derived from connecting with an ancient craft tradition propels my practice and kindles my enthusiasm for the meticulous and deliberate creation of exquisite, enduring objects.
In addition to my craft, I actively contribute to the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG) as the education chair through substantial volunteer work.
I also finds great satisfaction in teaching locally, particularly to those who may have never considered the intricacies of crafting a book from scratch and understanding its components.

These days I can be found working on my 10,000 hours at the bench, fulfilling commissions, teaching workshops, and sharing my journey on social media.

Where did Bochord come from?
Check out this blog entry I did to explain how I chose the name. BTW - I say "Book Hoard" because my middle English is terrible!
